Estimator/Sr. Estimator

Compensation: $80,000 - $135,000
Our client is a well-established contractor operating within the heavy civil and mining sector, recognized for delivering complex civil, earthworks, mining, and infrastructure projects across Western Canada. With a strong project pipeline and continued growth within their Heavy Civil division, they are seeking to add Estimator and Senior Estimator to their team.
This opportunity is well suited to estimating professionals who bring both technical capability and a practical understanding of project execution. Working closely with Operations and Project teams, the successful candidate will support a variety of large-scale pursuits including earthworks, mine site development, and heavy civil infrastructure projects.
This is a full-time, in-office opportunity supporting teams across both the Acheson and southeast Edmonton offices. While primary work location may vary, candidates should be comfortable supporting business needs across both locations.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Prepare quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and pricing for heavy civil, earthworks, mining, and infrastructure projects
Support the full estimating cycle from bid review and scope analysis through to final submission
Review drawings, specifications, tender documents, and contract requirements
Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing to support estimate development
Develop labour, equipment, production, and material costing based on project scope and execution requirements
Work collaboratively with Operations and Project teams to validate assumptions, methodologies, and execution strategies
Identify project risks, costing considerations, and commercial impacts during estimate preparation
Participate in bid closings, tender submissions, and proposal development activities
Maintain organized estimating documentation and bid records
Support continuous improvement initiatives related to estimating systems and processes
Key Qualifications Include:
Minimum 5 years of estimating experience within heavy civil, mining, earthworks, or related infrastructure environments
Experience supporting civil, industrial, mining, or infrastructure construction projects
Strong understanding of construction methodologies, project execution, and field operations
Experience reviewing drawings, specifications, and tender documentation
Proficiency with estimating software and advanced Excel skills; experience with HeavyBid, InEight, Hard Dollar, or similar platforms is considered an asset
Exposure to heavy civil infrastructure projects, alternative delivery models, or P3 partnerships is considered an asset
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities
Ability to manage competing priorities within bid-driven environments
Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and operational teams
Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline is considered an asset

• Base salary ranging from $80,000 - $100,000

• Base salary ranging from $115,000 - $135,000
